Fuertes Caminos 94 (N) Salima Guatemala. The Washington )PA) based unit of the 876th engineers participated in a nation building exercise in Guatemala. The mission was to build three bridges, assist in finishing two schools and help build relationships between the people of Guatemala and the United States. The unit, Delta Company, was the only engineer unit selected from the state of Pennsylvania to participate in this exercise. Their higher headquarters was the 240th Engineer from the State of Maine. Preparations included developing material lists, studying construction techniques and receiving a multitude of immunization shots . One soldier,xxx, made a scale model of the bridge design to enable us to better visulaize what was being built |
